All About me...

 How did I get into health and fitness? Why I do what I do....

I have been in the health and fitness industry now for over 14 years. Wow saying that out loud makes me feel old. And how I got my start is probably similar to the same reason why you are here.....

I grew up in the average american household in the 1980''s and 1990's. Watching tv while eating Tv dinners was a way of family bonding. Fast food dining was a cheap and an easy meal. Faygo Pop and candy was the go to to keep my sister and I at bay. (I look back now and wonder if that even actually helped) . Smoking didn't cause anybody harm.... Yep that is how I grew up.... Saying that as you can see my family was on a VERY bad road. 

Many health issues plagued my family,  diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, which lead to heart disease. Before I was 16 years old BOTH my parents had heart attacks. I got to sit front row as my parents health just diminished. I swore I'd never be like that. And that is the beginning of how my "fitness" journey began.

At that time I did everything from skipping meals which lead to binge eating to trying diet pills, to workout video tapes, of country line dancing for fat loss.... and the bad thing was I wasn't even overweight. I had a really bad body image thanks to what the media and my sister had to say. Oh those were the days... I didn't know what I was doing. So I gave up, well for a while. 

It wasn't until I became pregnant when I received the motivation that I needed to change my life and this was how. First let me tell you I'm kinda competitive.... I'm not sure where that came from since I was never in any sports. My sister decided to give me some lovely advice ... Now that your pregnant your going to be fat like your mother and I...   Wait what?! NO NO WAY!.... And that was how MY fire got lit. I didn't want to be a boring mom. I wanted to play and have fun with my daughter. I didn't want to be too tired to do things with her and I especially didn't want to gain fat. I watched my whole family struggle with that and thought that once you gained weight you couldn't get it off. 

After baby I started working out, first, all body weight movements. Eventually I started running because that's what you do when you want to lose body fat .. right?!? NOPE. I learned that there are so many different ways to tone and get cardio. You don't have to spend endless hours at the gym and you don't even have to run. Once I lost all the baby fat and started to get a little toned people started asking me for advice and well I loved it. So decided to go after my certification and, well, I dived right in and have never looked back. My passion for fitness and helping others landed me a job through my internship at the YMCA in 2011. This fuelled my passion for learning all that I could which has led into multiple certifications in different fitness modalities. I love my job, I love working with people, I love hearing the little daily accomplishments my clients make as they make their steps toward a healthy more fit and fulfilling life. And NOW I want to help so many more people....

So if you are still reading this GREAT! I want to help you become the best, healthiest and most confident badass version of yourself. All you have to do is WANT it and WANT IT BAD. It's time to take control of your body your mind and ultimately your life.... are you ready?
